Blue Balloons Blue Sky

This photo was taken last summer when I had the wonderful opportunity to be in Spain when the won the 2012 Euro Cup (That's soccer for those of you who don't know). I got to spend the evening with my host family celebrating (and I even danced in the fountain in the plaza with my host brother and sister). The next day we went back to Madrid because it was our last night there. Turns out they were having a massive parader for the team and the parade route was just outside our hotel. Someone had let these balloons go during the celebration so I snapped a quick shot.
NCA Junior Photo Contest Winner for 2010

I took this photo a couple years ago. It was my first contest winner! I entered it in the Newfoundland Club of America annual photo contest in the junior section and believe it or not I won!
Here's what the judge had to say:
"This junior photographer caught this appealing
Landseer puppy in a candid moment. To define
a dark eye surrounded by black is tough enough,
but when the dark head is surrounded by white it
throws off the light meter requiring counter
measures. Good job!"
Kalalau Driftwood?

This photo was also taken on the Kauai, Hawaii vacation. This is a dead branch that has been stripped down to the wood by the forces of nature. the blue in the background is actually the water of the Na Pali coast blurred into a beautiful blue backfrop for this bleached piece of wood.
Kalalau Orange Flowers

This was from our trip to Kauai, Hawaii last summer. I found this lovely little cluster of orange flowers in the brush at the Kalalau Looktout. I couldn't resist snapping a quick shot. I think it turned out phenomenal!!
Lilacs in a Basket

I took this photo earlier in the year when the lilacs were in full bloom. I always pick them to put in our kitchen and this year I had a lovely basket to put them in, the sun was out so I figured 'why not?' Turns out to be some of the coolest lilac photos I had ever taken.

This is the colors I was looking to capture this day. I absolutely love the deep color of the purple alfalfa flowers!! It was just a bonus that I got some white ones in there too.
Alfalfa Bee

It was pretty awesome because just about an hour before I had wished the sun would come out so I could take some pictures.
This photo was pretty daring on my part since the end of the lens was only a mere inch away from the bee and the flower. Not to mention all of the bees around me in the alfalfa field.
